before your first party night

Questions and answers

Everything you need to know to play Pantouflard, from the TV to the phones.

Do we need an app or controllers?

No. Open pantouflard.ca/tv on the TV. Everyone scans the code with their phone and plays in the browser. There's nothing to install.

What works as a TV?

Any screen with a recent web browser: a smart TV's browser, a Chromecast with Google TV, or a laptop plugged into the TV. Some older smart TVs don't work, like Samsung TVs from 2018 or earlier.

How many people can play?

Up to 10 per game. Some games work solo or for two, and the card and board games can also be played against the computer. Most party games are best with 3 or more. Each game's page gives the exact count.

What's free?

Everything is free during the beta, until November 30 2026. After that, eight games stay free for good: Free canvas, Draw & Guess, Most Likely To, Would You Rather, Backgammon, Hearts, Checkers and Cribbage. The others come with the subscription. Only the host pays: guests never do. And your first party night is on us, with one free 24-hour pass per account.

Is it OK for kids?

Yes. The host picks the tone in the lobby. In the Family tone, everything suits kids from about 6. The Adults tone makes some games spicier, but never mean or explicit. Party mode is for 18 and over.

Do I need an account?

Not to play. The TV and the guests never need one. Accounts come with the subscription: the host subscribes with their email.

Where does our data go?

Our server is in Montréal. It only introduces the phones to the TV: the games themselves run in the TV's browser. No ads, no ad trackers. All the details, our providers included, are in our privacy policy.

Is it in French?

Yes: in Québec French and in English. The host picks the language of the game. The games and their content are written in both languages, not translated word for word.
